Our Second Newsletter looks at What the Employment Rights Bill has to offer.
I have written in my most recent article about what is currently being considered in the Employment Rights Bill in relation to the Ethnicity Pay Gap. Outlined below are the areas the Government will be taking forward;
extending pay gap reporting to ethnicity and disability for employers with more than 250 staff and measures on equal pay
extending equal pay rights to protect workers suffering discrimination on the basis of race or disability
ensuring that outsourcing of services can no longer be used by employers to avoid paying equal pay
implementing a regulatory and enforcement unit for equal pay with involvement from trade unions
These changes will be delivered Autumn 2024 and beyond. The Bill will be a significant step towards real action to ensure fair pay for Black, Asian and other minoritised employees. The #EthnicityPayGap Campaign has played a significant part in bringing visibility to the Ethnicity Pay Gap and we believe the Government has recognised our work and has seen the importance of addressing this very important issue. We are proud to have played a part in Making Work Pay.
As the founder of the #EthnicityPayGap Campaign, I have had collective discussions with fellow campaigners to discuss what the new Bill could mean and what impact it will have on Black, Asian and other minoritised employees. We all agreed that the Bill must ensure fair pay for all and a working environment without discrimination.
